techcrunch.com— Techcruch review of recent controversy regarding groups of Diggers controlling the front page. A good overview of the problem and an excerpt of Kevin's response

i more or less agree...but, i think that more so than the political and business section causing a problem, the comedy video section is adding to the massive onslaught of uninteresting, uninformative, and certainly un-newsworthy content...i know a lot of people really feel that the comedy video section is the greatest thing digg has to offer, and of course people can block it out if they so choose, but honestly, it's not tech and it's not news, so it really shouldn't be digg...i don't have a problem with comedy videos, i think the internet is a great place for a good laugh, but i don't really think digg is the place i want to see a bunch of videos of frat boys lighting their farts on fire or some similar drivel...there are certainly plenty of sites for "comedy videos", more than enough really, digg doesn't need to contribute to that aspect of the internet...i feel like more and more a good tech related news story is hard to find on digg, i always have to weed through the crap to get to anything worth reading...i don't think that should be the case...
Wow, this just turned sour really quickly. I think we all need to calm down, and sit down and talk about this. They should open up a Digg forum about how we the user think this should be run.
If the story/website is so good that you want your friends to read it, email them the site and have them read it on their own accord so this 'popularity' contest ceases.
Why not just remove the Digg user Ranking so there's no more competition or bias to get to the top for scoping stories..There'd alsobe less stress on submissions and less weight for digging stories up to front page...equal say for everyone..and more diversity of stories..less like the NY Times..
