There is an open theater concert arena in my state, and I'm hoping NIN will come around. I think I need to sign up on his website to buy tickets from him. I'll let ticketmaster and ticketsnow know I what I think of their operation by putting the money where it belongs.
Very insightful! We can always count on Trent to speak sense and explain how things work from their side. Hope the merger doesn't go through. Greedy scumbags.
Excellent article. If I was Trent ( and I'm sure his camp has the resources to do this) I'd build a travelling venue, kinda like a circus big top but with staging, lighting, rig, seating, box office, merch etc. ( Same as bands such as The Stones and Floyd do, but on a smaller scale ) rent land as opposed to venues, form my own ticket and promotion agencies and take control of the whole lot, effectively cutting out the middle men all together. At his level of gigging it would kinda make sense, and if travelling circuses can pull it off, there is no reason (I see) why a band can't.He cut out the label, no reason he can't cut out the rest.
If there are simpletons that would criticise him for "getting in bed with these parasites" as he said, then they suck ass. You gotta play ball or you lose the game before it even begins. It's strange for me. I have never cared for NIN, but I like him as a person. It's strange to enjoy him more as a thinker and advocate for various industry issues than for his music. Which is really the opposite of the NIN fans he speaks of that call him a sellout for working with LiveNation and TicketBastard.

One of the main reasons I still love this band is their (ok, let's face it, Reznor's) backing of the fans. Trent is definitely not a diva. Between this article and this video: http://vimeo.com/channels/ninlive09#3353364 my respect for Trent, what he does, and his dedication to it has definitely grown.
