contactmusic.com — "One of the biggest wake-up calls of my career was when I saw a record contract. I said, 'Wait - you sell it for $18.98 and I make 80 cents? And I have to pay you back the money you lent me to make it and then you own it? Who the f**k made that rule?"

I'm also going to Charlotte. Through Trents presale a few weeks ago, I got 13th row from the stage, dead center for 65$. I was also at the Radiohead show, almost in the back of the lawn for the same price as right in front of the stage with Trents fan-only presales. Nobody gives back to the fans like that. Last winter I saw them in Greensboro, I saw them in like the 5th row, in the seats right in front of the stage, also through the presale. You should sign up on his website and be aware of when they go on sale in your area, and you can get what would cost you about $150-200 through a reseller.

That's why I love Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree, they offer most if not all of their material for download in FLAC with all the artwork in printable format. CD quality audio and a lot cheaper.

Unclefire has a point: It's easy to generate your own marketing buzz once the record companies have knocked boots with MTV and generated an entire brand known as Trent Reznor. What are you supposed to do if you're not a super-buffed, Jack Lalanne type, that already has fame and fortune and everything that goes with them. What about the talented little guy? What about the skinny dude that can't even afford the Clavia keyboard that Trent Reznor throws away after he's bench pressed it? Won't somebody care think about the children?

You forgot eBooks. It's absolutely on the way that you can get your favorite book via a booking station, from anywhere via a connection on the internet or even audiobooks. But I agree. If I read what a band has to go "through" I'm still wondering that they find the "magic" to reach our hearts'n'minds :)

I just spent $100 a ticket to see Leonard Cohen live and it was worth every penny. However, the ticket master surcharge of $20 per ticket was f**king highway robbery.

I'm surprised it took Trent till 2007 to realize how much of a scam non-indie labels are for artists.
