"Not exactly Aluminum, so it's kind of misleading. Sure, it has Aluminum in it, but that's like calling salt Chlorine. Different compound :)Still, cool stuff.""Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.Do not pass High School Chemistry and do no collect $200.Aluminum (Metal) is not the same thing as Aluminum Oxide (Alumina) to which this article refers. Alumina Oxides are commonly found in transparent forms... called glass. This is just refering to a high stregnth Alumina glass... and yes, I am a ceramic engineer."You are also a douchebag. To the first guy, it's not like calling salt chlorine, it's like calling salt sodium. To the second guy, the title is based on a Star Trek movie, stop being such a douchebag."Hello computer.""Uhh, here's the mouse.""Ah, okay. Hello computer.""Just use the keyboard.""Ah, the keyboard, how quaint.""Transparent Aluminum!!?!? It'll take years just to figure out the logistics!""Yes, but once you do... Think of the benefits..."
All I know is when we invent Warp drive FTL.You people are going to say its not Warp drive, yes it pulls on space but is done totally different than whats described in Star Trek.
One truth about DIGG - you need a catchy title to get your story noticed. While a lot of these kids probably aren't old enough to remember Star Trek 4, there are plenty of us who are. I think the title is perfect and the story is cool. The fact that it's gotten as many diggs as it has bears this out.Even if it is "old news" it clearly wasn't widespread enough to be well known, so I think it still makes a good digg.
"While a lot of these kids probably aren't old enough to remember Star Trek 4, there are plenty of us who are."I hate to be the one to inform you, but people who aren't old enough to remember Star Trek 4 are no longer kids.
You forgot, "Can anyone tell me where the nuclear wessels are?"and"Captain, weren't those a birthday present from Dr. McCoy?""Yes, and the great thing is, now he'll be able to give them to me all over again."I love how the only comments on this are either arguing that it's not REAL transparent aluminum, or Star Trek references.
