blog.wired.com — The F-22 stealth jet may be about as useful for fighting insurgents as a snowboard in Baghdad. The plane may cost nearly $120 million a pop, making it one of the most expensive fighters of all time. But hot damn, does that thing look bad ass when it's going transonic.

And for the price of 50 of these we too could have trains like France has that obtain record breaking speeds and save fossil fuels that cause wars that require jets in the first place. But this is America who's thinking about the future?

I was pissed that they didn't just do a redesign of the F-14, it is hands down the best fighter we ever had, can you imagine a new stealth version of the Tomcat?

Any chance we can get the government to hold off on one or two of these and maybe feed/clothe the homeless and possibly get our public schools up to par?

Yup flying now. And crashing too. In fact the ENTIRE operational squadron loast ALL of its incredibly complicated electronics and controls and stuff as they crossed the International Date Line. All communications too. Lucky the engines kept running and there was a tanker nearby to direct them back to Hawaii cause they couldn't navigate anymore. How many MORE bugs are in the system that complex? I LOVE to take it into combat. We nearly lost an entire squadron due to a Y2K computer glitch.

Yeah, would be nice to just develop like Japan and Germany.

You are a retard. Do you know how long that "cloud" lasts? 10 seconds tops in actual combat conditions. It only stays as long as a aircraft (yes, almost every supersonic aircraft make these "clouds") keeps that same speed.
