I use Deluge on Ubuntu and it has worked well for me (I also use Firefox). I was surprised that Canonical did not pick it as the default bit torrent client. Oh well, what do I know? If I upgrade, I will just not select it or will uninstall it. Now if we can just keep these nutjobs from suing all the torrent hosts (witness Demonoid & The Pirate Bay), we might just have something to download and share.

only problem is that it is much slower than utorrent. I've done a test to download the exact same torrent files at approximately the same time, but Transmission is so much slower, i guess it is probably due to the lack support for DHT

KTorrent is also very beautiful. Low on resources, runs on my router and looks very nice (UI very similar to uTorrent). http://ktorrent.org/

tried port hopping, encryption, etc. etc. Bring my laptop to work with a T1 and the same torrents fly.

I must agree with Lazaryn. Deluge simply causes all of my other Internet apps to slow down. I have to watch web pages load up like it was 1992 on a cable modem connection.

Their upgrades surely work better than Windows upgrades. Can't comment on Linux upgrades, but surely some 3rd party apps have some preferences that don't migrate well...

You can do this in Deluge, but you have to set the option first.

It's available for all operating systems that are worth bothering with in the first place-- I don't see what your gripe is.
