this sure wasnt on digg a few months ago(not exact same link, but about modding xbox), and sure as hella hasnt been all over techtv, g4techtv and g4 and hasnt been going on for years.

@olibird - I don't know how you can say a chip costs the same when a softmod is more or less free. I made a cable for my USB drive, found Splinter Cell at the local Blockbuster and was up and going without cracking the case in no time. About $10 in total... If you can follow instructions you can do it.

Viva ala xbox mod!!! anything xbox mod digg++ But I would suggest the chip route. It is so much more stable and flexible.

Nice. Already have a chipped box but it was time for me to upgrade XBMC (forget where to find and haven't bothered since mine works great already).If the Xbox 1 launched with a dashboard similar to Xbox Media Center it would have kicked so much ass.

Worked great for me, I already had Mechassault and picked up the action replay this morning at BB.I had this XBOX sitting in the basement unused after all the dirty disk errors it was giving me. I bought a new one to replace it more than a year ago. I was going to buy a Buffalo LinkTheater next week and this just saved me the $235 that it costs at NewEgg!!!!!Plays all the xvids I've downloaded and they look fantastic on my 52" HDTV!

PROBLEM:I followed the instructions to the letter but ran into a problem at the following point. On Press "A" on "UXE install" and you will be prompted with several questions. Well I pressed A and up came a message"Correct update.xbe has not been found. Either install dash 4920,5659 or 5960 or add the update.xbe to the package. Cannot install UXE.Having purchased Mech Assault and action replay I am hoping someone can help me with this.Thanks all.

I could be wrong but, check out the site.That said, the guide worked great for me. If your network is configured using DHCP make sure you change the DHCP setting from "FALSE" to "TRUE" in MXM.XML file. After a changed DHCP setting a reinstalled MXM I was able to FTP the Xbox with no problem. The SMB shares are the way to go w/ XMBC, after a little configuring I was able to stream Lost Season One from my PC right to Xbox and watch it on my Panasonic 44? HDTV.XBMC Rules!
