Depleted Uranium is not dangerously radioactive (nor is pure Uranium 238). It is toxic, but keeping it in a simple plastic bag (or covering it in a hard laminate) is sufficient to prevent dangerous particles from being chipped off. Since DU is very hard (almost as hard as steel) actually shaving it in the first place is not very easy. Wash your hands after you handle it and have fun with the Geiger counter. I buy Uranium for decorative purposes. Stop being radiophobes, people.
