netribution.co.uk — "So the guys who started this business all cheated somebody to get there, and now they're being cheated, perhaps, by all these crazy, geeky people all over the internet. I must say, my anguish level is not great."Richard Dreyfus

Thats what I love about the internet and piracy. Overnight you have millions of consumers voting with their mouses, not their wallets. So while the big media corporations would love to sit on their asses and watch the cash roll in, the worm has turned, its us who sets the price and what we want, and now they have to work for every goddamn penny. If only fuel could be downloaded....

No comment on bit-torrents, good or bad. However, would it really be such a bad thing if the film industry didn't survive? There wasn't a film industry before 100 years (120 years?) ago. We did just fine for 5900 years without them.Psa 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

I actually think that it would be bad if the film industry didn't survive bc it brings in a lot of money, and there are other industries that have formed around the film industry. So if one were to fail, that owuld mean that these would also be doomed also, which would bring in severe economic downturn- not a good thing.

Its sicking and sadning all in one, about the claim of theft over the internet of music or movies/etc. Some of the big wigs in the industry complain about piracy, but yet they are the ones charging outrageous prices for there product.

Gaming is the best form of digital entertainment. I buy every game I get for my pc and I am going to buy the nintendo wii real soon. I can't wait! Alot of honest work goes into making games and software, so I buy it since programming is ALOT harder to do then acting. Movies are the biggest waste of money since you can only watch a movie about 2.5 times till you cant watch it again, music and games on the other hand you can play them alot (more then 100 times) and not get too tired of it. Movie companies know this so they try that hard to prevent priacy, but only thier efforts are actually ENCOURAGING it! I'd rather play a game becuase i can interact in the outcome of it. But I still enjoy a good anime once in a while I dont watch mainstream movies anymore they all suck since they are remakes or cheap thrill movies with too many special effects and bad plots. I do watch tv and I do have a tivo and I will say that it's one of the damn best inventions out there since i can now watch what I want when I want it and stick it to the man becuase they will NOT tell me when i should watch somwthing, specially since I have to go to a sales conference tonight and I will miss my fav show, Eureka on the sci-fi channel and I can count on my tivo to grab it for me. this drives innovation, and sure enough our efforts will drive innovative new ways for everyone to benifit:if you miss a show and you dont have tivo or dvr or never setup to rec. it, the commercials missed are lost revenues the same as fast forwarding through! so they are NOT loosing anything from dvr units. if you missed the show you missed the commercials. same difference!I think the entertainment people need to, if they arent makeing enough money, to "get a day job and stop your whining!"

cont'd from last post."get a day job and stop your whining" why do you think linux/open source is so successful, there are linux companies making a killing on linux like novell-suse/redhat/mandriva/etc........ even though there are free alternatives out there.mabye these entertainment companies need to take a look at linux's success and apply that!
