Yeah, they only retire a number if the player has died while playing for the team. So far, that's only two, Ace Bailey who died from a head injury (who's benefit game turned into the NHL All-star game) and Bill Barilko who went missing and was found several years later dead from an airplane crash. (see a song by Tragically Hip called Fifty-mission cap)And of course the ridiculousness of number 99 being retired league wide. Seriously though, its not like anyone else was going to try and use it. And, if you're going to do that, why not retire the number of someone equally great in his own right, Bobby Orr?
He has a house on the 3rd T at Club Link's Kings Riding and was paid to play the course with the members a few years back, he's not gay, not that there is anything wrong with being gay anyways. He's a solid down to earth guy with huge freaking hands that could pummel you to mush. I think his old mustache started the rumours, there is nothing to substantiate them.
