There are a few reasons why 15-mnute chargers are far superiour:* Let's say you are about to go out, and want to take a camera - but have forgotten to recharge it! Now it's practical to charge batteries before you go even at the last moment.* On a trip if you have four (or more) batteries you need to charge, you can charge both sets at night instead of hoping one set finishes charging before you have to go to bed.* In a car it's practical to recharge batteries in 15 minutes, other charge times are just too long to work with for car recharging. The charger is also really compact, and easy to travel with. As for life, I have yet to have any of these batteries wear out but even if the life were 20% shorted it would be well worth it for the convienience and practicality of only needing one charger insead of a few for almost any use.
I've tried them but I hate them, I hate the noise they make and the light they put out. I've tried a lot of different kinds too (some have more or less noise/poor light, but all are inferior to incandesant). For ourdoor lights where you almost never have to look at or be near them, they are pretty nice though. I can just leave the outdorr lights on 24x7 and they last years.I'm going for the LED lightbulb replacements when they become a bit cheaper.
Sorry to break it to my fellow Rayovac iC-3 lovers out there, but here's a response I received from Rayovac when inquiring on why they were disappearing from everywhere. On the bright side, you can get them very cheap (clearance) at Radioshack now..Thank you for your message regarding Rayovac Batteries. Yes, we havediscontinued the manufacturing of the IC3(15 minute) batteries, due tolack of sales. At this time there are no plans for any products thatwould be replacing those batteries. Let me know if there is anythingelse I can help you with. Thank you!

What about the good old radar detector? a Belltronics that cost me $300 has saved me at least 5 to 10 times that in the cost of speeding tickets.
