juancole.com — Myth #8. "Iraq is the central front in the war on terror." From the beginning of history until 2003 there had never been a suicide bombing in Iraq. There was no al-Qaeda in Baath-ruled Iraq. When Baath intelligence heard that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi might have entered Iraq, they grew alarmed at such an "al-Qaeda" presence and put out an APB on him!

Yes, it is beyond belief. And the politicians are throwing away not only the lives of Americans -- which is bad enough -- but also the lives of tens of thousands of Iraqis. And many americans just accept it!!! It's a "follow the leader" mentality all the way.

Musab al-Zarqawi and his fellow members of al-Qaeda fled to Iraq after Afghanistan fell. From Iraq they planned and carried out attacks against the US and Jordan. They assassinated American diplomat Laurence Foley in Jordan and began the planning of the large chemical attack against Jordan and American interests which was thwarted by Jordanian officials. This attack was designed to kill some 80,000 people and the attack American interests in Jordan. The al-Qaeda members' confession was broadcast on Jordan TV and they clearly had been based in Iraq while implementing these attacks against American interests and the assassination of American diplomat Laurence Foley in Jordan. No doubt that al-Qaeda was already in Iraq long before the start of the Iraq War and had successfully carried out attacks against American interests and were planning larger scale attacks and were well along the way in the implementation of these larger attacks. All while based in Iraq, before the start of the Iraq War.Bush was right.
