techgage.com — In this short article, I will be relaying a few of my favorite features of Amarok that you just may not know about. I have to mention that depending on your distro or method or installation, some features may not be automatically available to you.

I love amarok because I can see what it's capable of. The only problem is, my machine is an Athlon 3500+ Venice, with 1Gb of RAM and my music's all stored on my NAS (through gigabit ethernet) and it takes about 15 minutes to load Amarok, (which it does whenever the machine boots, no matter how many times I remove it from the neccessary lists it still loads on boot) and between changing tracks it likes to crash for about 2 minutes, whilst using 100% CPU and RAM. It does this whilst adding tracks to a playlist, loading any part of the context menu, or basically whenever amarok decides it needs to do anything. So I've stripped it down, there's very little of it's features being used and it still crashes. But I still use it, I checked on some forums and they've basically said "yeah it does that... sorry". So yeah, it's good, if you have patience or a decent chip.

The distros often ship musicbrainz without mp3 support. Its a real anti-feature. I'd rather they just ship without MusicBrainz at all so as to not confuse folks.

I thought this is a fairly common problem as there are lots of posts out there mentioning with it.How did you get it to work? Did you let amarok build a collection?

Hi,You can enable the gnome multimedia keys by running this script in Amarok using ToolsScript Manager :<a class="user" href="http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Gnome+Multimedia+Keys?content=60910">http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Gnome+Mul ...</a>It works on my Thinkpad.Tim
