gamedaily.com — With the advancement of technology, it's rare to play a game that doesn't incorporate 3D graphics. While 3D games are great, classic 2D side-scrollers are beautiful in their own way. GameDaily takes a look at what they believe to be the most visually striking 2D games, with less text and more screenshots because that's what you want to see.

Are you kidding? Starcraft had weak graphics for it's time(came out 1998?) They even toned down the graphics to lower the minium spec requirement. Their predecessor Warcraft II had far better graphics for it's time. Come to think of it, Warcraft II was pretty darn beautiful.

yeah, Castlevania Symphony of The Night definitely should have been up there....to this day one of my standout best looking 2d games ever...

Come on, the page breaks weren't *that* bad. They were logical, splitting with each game, plus they even put the introduction on the same page as the first (5th?) game. We've all probably encountered sites that would've gone so far as to span each game across two pages.

I'd thought that Myst and the like would've at least rated a mention. Uru's supposed to be one of the best looking games ever.

PONG would be a better candidate than most those games. Bury me if you like but the list is crap. And I wasn't kidding about pong. http://www.plasmapong.com/

Okay, I haven't read it yet, and I'm not going to unless Odin Sphere is on thereOops, never mind, all I see is a big ol' 404.

Recently "Odin Sphere", definitely a gem in terms of looks. People might not know this game but "Dragonball Z Hyper Dimension" on the Snes is stunning for it's platform and i still think it's better alot of 3D games out there."Abe's odyssey" another old game for playstation, which again could compete with games today. Oh and these types articles are just there to start discussions like this, so take it with a pinch of salt.
