Thank you for consolidating this, it was very enjoyable. I also found the comments to be amusing, you can actually see the difference in intelligence (and mental stability) that is present between atheists and the devout here. It?s fairly sad actually. I?m sure they will find it offensive that I think them stupid, but ignorance is bliss, I hope they find some comfort in that. As for intelligent schizophrenics, well they have all the comfort in the world knowing people who never did any wrong aside from thinking freely will burn in their own lustful concept of ?hell?. Which sounds more fun than hanging out with the saved when we?re all zombies.

To say I am a prideful, superior Atheist is a definite understatement. As to why I feel this way about myself I shall further explain. My purpose in writing this is I am in hopes that some dumb Christian catches wind of it.[It may actually set them straight.]
How our existence came to be involves absolutely NO INTELLIGENT design.[so get off it.]We are all here by PURE chance and nothing more.[ Even though our mere THINKING about reality presupposes that there is a correspondence between our mind and reality and science operates with this assumption.] Society gives way to much credit to Einstein's theory "the incomprehensible comprehensibility" of the universe. How his theory of relativity ,worked out STRICTLY with mathematical formulas"fits"reality doesn't matter. The success of his theory means that physical reality has the mathematical structure Einstein worked out, thus he didn't impose it on reality:he discovered it. Saying the world was "mind like" before a mind like Einstein"s ever came along to see it. My Atheist mind says differently.[Ya, Einstein has nothing on me.]
Chance CAN produce mathematical formulas. It can produce minds that know how to work them. It's amazing, I know, because our minds are nothing more than"chemicals in motion",hence any truth we think we may discover amounts to nothing more than a brute chemical reaction, and thus has no more truth than, say,a burp. Chemical reactions are all equal on this score, regardless of how complex.[Ya,Einstein's theory was nothing more than a complex burp] Who needs intelligent design when you have this to rest your head on at night. Oh,dumb Christians and billions of other spiritual believers who believe they were actually created to be 'special' and 'unique' through a intelligent 'force'. How wrong you are. I'm proud to say Atheists did not need any Intelligence to create them.

The metals are broken down, but the energy of that metal is the same as the day it came out of the Earth. That metal can be melted down and used again and again, even made into another plane.

Another great line. Consider it stolen ;)

Cool Digg!! The American Atheists would charge $$$ for this.

Who cares what Einstein thought? He had some good ideas, but he was not the only scientist in the world. In my opinion, Einstein is overrated and over glorified. Watson and Crick's discovery (and co) was more important for humanity than his and they don't get as much credit from the general populace.
BlissfullyArrogantJan 4, 2011
What a predictable answer given the fact Watson and Crick were Atheists...although It has been suggested by some observers that Crick's speculation about panspermia "fits neatly into the intelligent design concept" to the point it raised a good amount of controversy. However I apologize for assuming what you may or may not believe.I mainly just want to argue your opinion. Could it be Einstein is overrated and over glorified because his Theory supported the fact that the universe was "mind like" for him to have discovered physical reality through a mathematical formula? Uh oh....that implies more than just chance as to existence.Hmmmmm. Oh no...this now leaves room for more than molecules and the double helix!!Yes, W &C created leaps and bounds for science. What Watson and Crick discovered was fascinating...although limited in it's explanation, once again,as to how it originated in the first place. It serves the HERE and NOW well for humanity but leaves no further possibilities out side of the science rhelm, which yes, anything that is not dictated by science can not be possible....I know. It doesn't sound hard to swallow at all that we are nothing more than glorified, complex talking monkeys. Give some brilliant minds a few microscopes and you would have come to Watson and Cricks discoveries any way. I am however intensely interested in researching Watson's book:Avoid boring people. That I may get something out of.

liah - each of those statements strikes me as sincere. but at the end of each period, I found myself asking the question, "Why?"

In my thirteen years of public education, I never once found a hint of right wing bias. If anything, there was a huge left wing bias. ;)

wow worst quote ever... it proves nothing and is basically circular reasoning.how about this for a quote:"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. - Seneca the Younger "

Atheism has nothing to do with reincarnation. You can believe in reincarnation without believing in deities.

"If Christianity is wrong philosophically (or maybe we just interprete it wrong), that is not enough evidence to denounce an existance of God."The things is, there is so many variations of interpretations of the bible... religious people (or if your not one of those "organized" people of convictions,a theist) tend to bring up the same idea that "maybe we just interprete it wrong", its becomes quite conveinient for anyone of faith to be able to manipulate their interpretation for the situation... the idea of the bible is unity.. the fact that it can be taken multiple ways shows its indirectness, which emphasizes the theory of error.
BlissfullyArrogantJan 4, 2011
You picked the perfect user name for yourself..I'll give you that. The problem of disunity among Christians is a perpetual thorn in the side of every Christian I imagine. Toward the end of Jesus' ministry He prayed that all believers might be united so that the world would know that Jesus was really sent by God[John 17] Ya,well they are not very united which in part damages their witness to Christ as Savior.
IMPORTANT:As much as one would like to discredit the bible with this, the ambiguity of the Bible is preserved as this falls largely on the sinfulness of the church.Pride, greed, and the hunger for power take place over LEGITIMATE differences in interpreting the Bible. Christians are sinners..pure and simple.[big surprise]The bad side to that is it hinders the work of God.There are few biblical accounts of God ever accomplishing His purpose through someone who didn't do his best to botch it up. The other is simply not all the churches regard the Bible in the same way.Liberals want to reject what THEY don't agree with[that's a shocker]Fundamentalists are the polar opposite, they tend to read it "ahistorically" hence making the Bible a 20th century legal document. So on and so forth.Clearly the difference in PERSPECTIVES prevents different churches to work harmoniously. Those are human error not the bible as it was intended and written. There is true value in reading the Bible in the light of history.Bottom line.. The differences listed and the many that are not do not declare any ambiguity in the bible text itself. It is the result of historical and cultural influences imprinting peoples' understanding of the status of the Bible. So the drama goes with all of these factors circling each other. They pale in comparison to the central message of the New Testament which does everything but shout it in your face :Jesus Christ died for you and is the Lord and Savior of all who believe.Don't even embarrass yourself with trying to explain the bible in ANY way if your going to leave this out. Blaming the bible for all the drama people have created for it through historical and cultural factors is much too simple. If our souped up over fed minds could give a glimpse of a second to using[if they still have one] their heart they will hear what can clearly be heard. The mind is limited and all the molecular science in the world isn't going to change that. Society has become addicted to knowledge , getting all fattened up like a prize winning pig on it to the point when mentioning 'opening yourself up' for something much greater than yourself gets reactions like you just admitted to having a week to live.
G.K. Chesterton said it best "The Christian ideal has not been found wanting,it has been difficult and left untried."

I would relish in the fact that I had no insight to these matters given to me but that would be untruthful. Thanks to Dr. Greg Boyd for some well shed light on the matter.

Enchantrem, Its been over a year I know, but I really like your point. A smarter way to see it is that a devout, compassionate Christian who cares about my soul doesn't need to tell me that. You're right, I doubt I'd listen as well as I should. But its almost nice in a way when someone tries to change my mind because they are truly worried about my soul.
