I've introduced this movie to quite a few people over the years. I find that most of them take the beach-ball alien in stride , and quite like it. But its that bizarre musical interlude with the liquid-filled jars that turns them off....Me, I don't like it, but can appreciate the "art" of it. On the other hand, the memorable closing title song "Benson, Arizona" is simply brilliant - sci-fi country & western ballad FTW!
Just watched Code 46 and it has instantly become one of my favorite "indie" scifi movies. Such a weird movie with an odd story, but it's executed in a great way and has a simple but haunting soundtrack.
I loved The Thing. The most intense moments didn't even involve the actual alien. It was the total paranoia and isolation of everyone that captured the original short story it was based on, "Who Goes There", to a tee.
It would have been better if it had been a totally different story. Different characters. If it had no references at all to 2001 and anything else. Then it may have been an "okay" movie. As it stands now, it's exactly what it is: a money grab from a studio that could put a "ride" on it's studio tour. It was horrible compared to Kubrik's film. "All these worlds are yours, except Europa. Attempt no landing there. Use them together. Use them in peace." Seriously, would Stanley ever have put something so hokey and thud-like in one of his films?

Equilibrium is, hands down, one of the worst movies ever made.

I thought the face part was very looney tunes, but I loved the movie none the less. :)

"Enemy Mine" is a gay inter-species love story in a sci-fi setting. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
