i am a photograhper, trust me. you never ever want flash outdoors, it looks horrible, make the sunlight behind you, not behind whatever you're trying to take a picture of.

Stupefied by format nazis who would have us all keep our cameras in the one and only true alignment with our monitors. That said, the article was a good one. Nice and concise, well-suited for linking to in an email to that young, would-be Ansel Adams, or even a less than fully dialed in brother-in-law who's not too uptight to accept a gentle bit of useful information. To lbermude, my thanks for the link to AutoStitch. First I've heard of it. Downloaded it and put it to work on some shots I took in Hawaii summer before last and by golly it works like magic. Many thanks, my unknown friend.

I worked at Nikon for quite some time, doing tech support mostly. Trust me... most people using cameras NEED these kinds of tips.

Umm...these are good tips for beginners, but I wouldn't use them as guidelines. Every photographer needs to leave room for creativity. I don't fully agree that you should always use a flash outdoors. I personally don't like using a flash. There are ways around it. Shadows can make an object stand out. If there's natural light, I use it.
