My teacher in IT class says that Google Desktop is spyware, and sends a "heartbeat" back to Google every 30 seconds. Is that totally bulls**t?So far I've only been able to shut him down by saying "But what if we don't care?"

@digitydigtydoYes I know that unless you turn on "advanced" features, it won't contact google servers, but firewall programs say otherwise...What is being sent?!

the google desktop searches the web as well so it access the Internet and that is why your firewall is catching it. BTW if you read the instructions when installing the program it says that you need to disable your firewall while installing the program or you will have to restart your computer after it installs. P.S. your teacher is an idiot 'those who can do, those who can't teach'
