Its not bad for the car, its just dangerous for you. You are relying 100% on the brakes, and without them you will just roll off down that hill. The article mentioned brakes but did not point out that the main reason you do not ride your brakes down hills is because they heat up, and hot brakes don't work as effectively. Its called brake fade, and in the end you get to the bottom of the hill and your brakes dont work till they cool down. Dangerous.
