arstechnica.com — When Microsoft announced that its flagship digital media player had posted a stunning 54 percent year-over-year drop in holiday sales, Zune-bashing officially became an Olympic sport. But, unlike us, most of the bashers haven't spent any real time with Zune Marketplace, Microsoft's online answer to iTunes Music Store.

I love my Zune too. If it was officially available in my country I'd love it even more.

I have a Zune80 and have to admit that the first version the Zune software that I used did throw me a little (still preferred it to iTunes though). But I do really like using it now. Really. The lack of international support REALLY bugs me though being in the UK but my experiences of the social features and marketplace sections that I can use have been great. There is some iTunes integration with the fact that un-DRMed iTunes files (audio and video) can be synced to the Zune but you can't really expect Apple to share it's DRM system with MS to allow those tracks to play on your Zune. Here's to hoping that MS continue with it, the cult-ish 'scene' that exists around it continues to develop and that integration with the Xbox marketplace becomes a reality.

But what does it offer someone who doesn't buy mp3s or listen to FM radio?
