cbc.ca — Sleeping too much can harm you as much as sleeping too little, a new U.K study indicates. More surprisingly, scientists found those individuals who increased the number of hours they slept per night from seven to eight hours or more were more than twice as likely to die as those who kept sleeping for seven.

Dead right my friend ... Correlation != Causation. Obviously the confounding variable here is health. Sick people sleep more.*Absolutely* any premise can be proven by omitting / including confounding variables.

It's like telling people who smoke that it will kill them. Classic reply: "What, you want to live forever?" ... anyway it's funny, my dad used to tell me, when I was a kid, "women live longer because they sleep less, due to stress of having kids". Props to my pops for being right!
