aintitcool.com — From AICN: "I can?t even express how much I love that choice. First of all, congratulations to Paramount and Marvel for having the nerve to pin their franchise on Downey. He?s had some rough years, but if I?ve ever seen anyone aggressively work to rehab their career, it?s Downey."

This casting choice made me think back to this classic Iron Man cover: http://members.aol.com/whoclix/drunk.gif

Luke From Empire Strikes Back: "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo"Batman and Superman showed you the way. So did Daredevil and Ghost Rider will. Dont pick well known stars for these movies.

I was hoping it would be that black guy from Hustle & Flow. He has the perfect mustache for the character.

wouldn't that be more of a mel gibson cover?

They better put Ghost on the soundtrack, if not have him do the whole damn thing.

That bastard Bush -- he won't even give us a choice of who gets to play Iron Man.It's an outrage.

Bah, Tony Stark has a moustache -- therefore a wide variety of actors could play him.

I love it, Hollywood biggest Drunk to play Comics biggest Drunk. I can't stand R.D. Jr. because of the constant pity he gets from going back into rehab again and again, but this is just to perfect.

great choice. Fine actor. But may a stiff role. Would love to see him get a "Captain Jack Sparrow" type role and be allowed to just let it all out....Not a big fan of Iron man, but with Jr. on board, it will be worth a look.

I would've picked someone like Eric Bana. RDJ isn't masculine enough to fit the role... only thing RDJ has in common is both he and Tony Stark are(were?) alcoholics!!!
