thinkprogress.org — Tony Snow on MSNBC: "I mean, maybe I’m just quaint in this day and age. But no, I think there is always an attempt when you have got an African-American candidate to try to attribute something to the race card."

> WartyboskfappedI think Wartyboskfapped is correct. Obviously, not everyone who sees the ad is going to see it the same way. If you don't see the racial overtones in it good for you. But that doesn't mean that others out there more closely fitting the southern male stereotype is not going to react to the black man / white woman connection. It's not a mistake the woman is white. The people that produce these ads know exactly what they're doing. All of the possible interpretations by the target group are complete calculated. This willful ignorance on the part of the GOP to own up the fact is just more of their standard BS.

More "selective editing" of sound bites by Think Progress, they are masters of propaganda. Notice how the audio clip doesn't allow Snow to complete his thought before the clip ends. And Snow is right, BTW... the left will play the race card as often as possible. Remember the 2000 race? Gore stood up in a black church (Separation of church and state? Only when it's convenient!) and told them that George W. Bush wanted to turn back the clock to a time in America when a black man was considered to be two-thirds of a white man in terms of rights. Bush has never made any such comment, and in fact, Bush was the first president to appoint African-Americans to cabinet-level positions.

I think it's a pretty accurate statement actually, and it has to do more with that the vast majority of elected officials are white males. If non-white men, or any women attempt to run for office, somewhere along the way they're likely to bring up that they're not a Caucasian male and use it to their advantage, African Americans included. What's wrong with that?

The whole point of the add is to raise racial awareness in white viewers. From there, their own modern racism will take over. I just wrote an article on this when I read this Digg.Read mine here:<a class="user" href="http://www.digg.com/politics/Racist_TV_ad_and_Comments_my_Snow_Raise_Questions">http://www.digg.com/politics/Racist_TV_ad_and_Comments_my_Snow_Raise_Questions</a>Good find to the digger who dug this one.

Apart from the fact it seems the ad itself might pretty well be felt racist,Tony Snow's defense surely is :? I think there is ALWAYS an attempt when you have got an African-American candidate to try to attribute something to the race card. ??In that logic : ONLY if you could bare any colored people from running for office, would you cure the whole problem? and all these tasteless accusations !!!??It reminds me of the "philosophical" hypothesis we heard about the good effect an abortion plan focused on African Americans would have on the crime rate ! And that one was a pervert try to rally religious African Americans against abortion right (and to vote against any Democratic candidate) !?By the way, I found that the other accusation about the "Jungle Drums" during a mention of Ford in the TEN-Sen campaign, is far fetched. Plus it misses a real critique of the republican sub-text that goes the other way : If you're white and got a family in politics, that's good for your credentials and normal, but if you happen to be black and raised in Washington for a while, then you just lost all local roots ! You just can't win.Link to the radio ad : <a class="user" href="http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/oct/25/tn_sen_corker_radio_ad_has_tom_tom_drums_during_mentions_of_ford">http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/oct/25/tn_sen_corker_radio_ad_has_tom_tom_drums_during_mentions_of_ford</a>

I read topics like this and It becomes very clear to me how little white people actually understand about race and how it plays out in America. Yes this add plays on racial sensitivities. How? Well it doesn't call him a monkey if that's what your looking for. What it does is say to all the racists out there is elect Harold Ford Jr. He's for increased miscegenation of the races. He likes to f**k white girls he may f**k your daughter. Of course he can't call them racists when he discusses this ad because in American society you play the race card and you instantly become some sort of kook. You must be lying because there are other people who were there and they can't see whats wrong. He's a political candidate who is dependent on the votes of white people in order to get elected. You can't afford to look like some militant. He did the politically conservative thing and chose to attack the womanizer allegation. I'm willing to bet however if you sat down for a drink with the man and asked hime if the add was racist he'd have something different to say to you.
