realtechnews.com — In a strange turn of events, Tivo is no longer accepting orders for DVR units via phone or web. Unconfirmed posts suggest the company they outsource sales duties to has folded. At this time, potential web customers are being directed to Order at Best Buy.

It will only be days, I'd wager. As hot as TiVo is right now they'll have outsourcing companies falling all over them to replace Metron.

let's hope it really is just a third party problem. I can't handle too much more bad news on the TiVo front.

Build a MythTV box and not worry about a third party sales problem.

Could it be that these guys sold more DirectTV Tivos? DTV and Tivo have split. NDS, a company owned by Mr. Murdoch which used to supply DTV security cards before DTV moved that in house is in the PVR business too. Mr. Murdoch which finally bought DTV later could simply be pulling more business to itself, here is a link to NDS PVRs... http://www.nds.com/personal_tv/personal_tv.html
