autoblog.com — A Brazilian car designing firm called Obvio! has found a distributing partner in the U.S. finally. ZAP, known for distributing EVs to environmentally conscious folks in the U.S., has placed a 50,000 unit order for the company's two super tiny and whacky minicars.

I would buy the 012 in a heartbeat. Heck I'd buy 2 just for my onsite techs at my company...That is if it weren't $28k.Even still, I might buy one as my winter transportation, as it gets too cold and wet here in NY to ride a motorcycle in the non-summer months.

29.4 MPG city/40.7 highway?!? Hell, my Chevy gets better mileage than that! And it cost less than 28 grand. And it seats 5, with enough trunk space to store several dead hookers. No digg, the car is not just vaporware, but it's also crap.

it's a glorified YUGO, shoot they make little tykes almost that size.

1.6 liter engine? Thats garbage in gas savings. My 1995 honda civic cx has a smaller engine than that and plenty of pep. I see car after car after car claiming huge savings on gas and the environment. They barely even pass a civic thats 11 years old. Seriously. If a car is going to hold half the people and be half the size I expect somewhere close to half the fuel useage. The fact that it's so much smaller and costs the same? Someone here is ripping us off.Lets look at cheap cars available by normal companies which also happen to seat 4 people and hold more than twice as muchKia Rio5 3 door 2007 - 38-46 standard & 35-50 automaticprice - $13,750Hyundai Accent GS 3 door 2007 - 32-35 standard & 28-37 automaticprice - $10415Honda Fit 2007 5 door - City:33 / Hwy:38price - $13,850 I really don't mind seeing small fuel efficient cars coming here to North America. But paying more for less is seriously mind boggling. I can't be spending upwards of 20,000 dollars on a 2 seater car. I seriously can't. And I'm sure a lot of people are thinking the same.
