There needs to be legislation now to stop this kind of behavior. Without national regulation, this article represents the beginning of the end of the free internet.

If your telco or 3rd party provider has ADSL2+, you can get up to 20 Mbps / 1 Mbps if you're close enough to the central office.

A lot of the time you can get dry loop by calling the company. You end up with a phone number that isn't connected and DSL only service. I did this with Qwest the last place I lived because the the cable provider in the area (cableone) throttle bandwidth at ridiculously low transfer rates (think me and my roommate gaming at the same time) and when they throttled the internet would barely stay connected.

Lots of people use it to watch movies. There is also some decent programming on there and remember that HBO (and the like) also have "on demand" which is usually the same stuff that is always on there which allows you to catch up on shows you may have missed or watch that movie when you want to etc. It's not just the "Marketplace on Demand" that I think you are referring to. Actually it's sad that I know this but Oxygen On Demand (or We, I can't remember which) has a karaoke channel. Not too many songs but still some stuff there that you can have fun with.

Sooo, I can understand companies charging us for our connection speed, much like how they charge us for how many tv channels we have, but now they want to put a limit to how much we can use those services... that's like saying you can only watch so many hours of tv a month. They're messing with our livelihood! I think some people are getting a little greedy.

Meter me Times Warner. I love being metered right in my big old meter. This is the funnies thing I have ever heard when I first heard about this outrage was at http://highspeedinternetbuzz.com/reviews/road-runn ... and as far as I can tell it is not a very popular idea with there current clientele. If you have TWRR I would suggest dropping there sorry company and choosing from the legit providers at http://highspeedinternetbuzz.com Please do not allow the scumbags to own you in your meter.
