How very weird, I used to live at that beach. To see it in toy mode is eerie.Also, the platform out to see doesn't exist as far as I know. Unless it's been built in the last few months. I'm not sure why he would have added it though, it's not part of the story.
I think any child would have looked at something really close and noticed how things behind are out of focus...well, not consciously but I think he may recognise when things are small. If you're peering at a laptop screen, take note of everything in your peripheral vision...it is out of focus:)
