pvrwire.com — TiVo today reported its first profit. It had a net income for the second-quarter of $240,000 and break-even earnings per share. That's in comparison with a net loss of $10.8 million or a net loss of 13 cents per share for the same period in 2004.

Damn, you mean it finally made some money now with all these open source programs available?

I have both MythTV and DirectTV with Tivo, and although Myth is nice, there's things that Tivo just does better. I've also used Comcast's DVR, and I must say it's by far the worst (clunky interface, poor season recording options -- like it doesn't catch when shows change their time, etc.).

Paraphrasing a line used by some U.S. gun owners, "the only way you'll get my TiVo is to pry it from my cold dead, well, cabinet I guess."I think that all those open source TiVo options are great! But most people don't have the inclination or the ability to build a DVR using software like MythTV. And for that segment of the universe, TiVo is (in my opinion) the best. I'm glad they made a little money.

I think the announcement for Call For Help has something to do with it LOL (just kidding)
