macdailynews.com — TiVo Inc. is expanding its video recording service so users will be able to transfer recorded TV shows onto Apple Computer's iPods, according to an Associated Press report. By adding support for the MPEG-4 video format, TiVo hopes to capitalize on the immense popularity of Apple iPods.

hmtksteve, yeah, you need cable with TiVo. It'll download shows overnight just like a VCR would, if you tell it to (or it decides you might like it). But just like a VCR, you need an input. The broadband feature is just for downloading service upgrades or programming information. No direct downloads of TV Programming (YET... they might be starting something with movie downloads soon, as the rumors go, possibly with NetFlix).

I'm already doing this. DirectShowDump to turn the .tivo file to .mpg and then PSPVideo9 and Videora iPod converter respectively.
