engadget.com — While the now-prior rendition of TiVo Desktop allowed users to convert TiVo recordings into mobile-friendly versions for a $25 fee, 2.4 seeks to offer up the process a bit in reverse by allowing non-DRM-laced video files on your PC to be transcoded for playback on your TiVo box

I'm glad Tivo finally offered an officially supported option to users who don't want to (or can't) play with other free but more technically involved methods. I already paid for TivoDesktop 2.3 Plus, enjoying the auto-transfer and encoding to video iPod. Yeah, freebie :)

videora tivoconverter has done this for free, for at least a year.

Thumbs up for Visual Hub. For a couple of bucks less than the paid version of the Windows Tivo Desktop, it (combined with the free version of Tivo Desktop for Mac) does a bang up job of getting video onto a Tivo. Plus it does all manner of other transcoding as well, especially good for getting video/DVDs onto the iPod or into iTunes. Much better value than the Tivo software.

If you have a xbox 360 I highly recommend checking out www.tversity.com .... tversity allows you to browse your media library on your computer from the 360 and transcodes your media on the fly so they can be played on the 360.

@osc1882"Seems rather retarded to me.www.isohunt.comwww.torrentspy.com..."Uh, yea.. so why don't you all tell us how you transfer your torrent downloads to your Tivo so you can watch them on your bigscreen with the great tivo interface. And tell us how to do this without having to crack the Tivo open, enable the usb ports, patch the kernel, encode the downloaded videos into *.ty files, and transfer them to the tivo with MFS_FTP. Read the article next time dip-s**t..

Who dug the parent down? That's valuable information for people who have a Zen Vision, if it's accurate, and should be dug up if anything. If it's inaccurate, the dig down should be accompanied by a comment that sets the record straight, thus helping out the parent poster and anyone else reading.Dug back up.
