zatznotfunny.com — As with Comcast?s Motorola 6412 boxes, TiVo software will be a download option for select Cox DVRs when available in 2007. I assume the TiVo brand name, advertising features, and patent portfolio helped secure this deal.

I love Tivo. But for the past two years I have had to use Cox's DVR. It is ok, but missing a lot of the cool features my TiVo use to have. This is great. For people who have never used TiVo, it is hard to explain why it is nicer. But it just is.

Yeah we keep getting one where the guy leaves the waitress a "tip" which is a piece of paper that says "You can save money with Cox Cable." That is the joke.It makes me want to punch children.

Does Comcast TiVo support broadband connectivity and MRV. HMO, HME, TiVo2Go?MRV = Multi Room Viewing, record on one TiVo and playback on another.HMO = Home Media Option (Was an option, now standard), view jpg and play mp3s sored on your PC.HME = Home Media Engine, a free SDK released by TiVo to develop custom java based applications (<a class="user" href="http://tivohme.sourceforge.net/)">http://tivohme.sourceforge.net/)</a>TiVo2Go = The ability to transfer video programs to and from your PC including the ability to edit, burn, and re-encode for portable devices. All of these were left off of the DirecTV TiVo systems, hopefully they will be on the Comcast boxes!

To me, the remote is integral to the TiVo experience. The current Cox remote is a design abortion and I wouldn't be able to get past the pain of using it, TiVo or not.

I feel the same way about Directtv. I love their service. They've always been extremely helpful, and I was amazed at how fast I was able to get it installed. I called them on December 22nd and it was installed on the 24th. Christmas Eve! First time I got Time warner (like 10 years ago) was also around christmas, and they installed it mid-January.Time Warner charges $8 per cable box per month, and that's if you dont have a DVR. Directtv chargers $5 per box per month, and the first is free. So for me, 3 boxes for $10 vs. $24 with Time warner. That alone is $168 per year. Plus, their deal right now is incredible. Gah, looking at these installation charges with Time warner.. $45 for installation, $30 for reconnects, $20 for each additional outlet, $32 just for coming out, change of service $30 (Charging customers who want to add programming?!) Admin charge $5.75 ridiculous, all of that's free with Direct TV.Plus, you can change your programming instantly online with Directtv. If I only have Showtime and I see something on HBO i wanna watch, I can logon and turn off showtime and add HBO free of charge. It instantly updates with the new programming. (Can only do once every 24 hours I think...)

This is the only way that tivo will be able to survive. No one wants to actually buy a tivo but if your cable company can offer a dvr with tivo software more people might be open to Tivo. Lucky me my cox market got bought by Cebridge. :( Maybe Suddenlink will offer a tivo too.
