popfrogs:Cops certainly can shoot at people coming at them with any sort of blade or blunt object. My friend's uncle stupidly charged a cop with a knife while he was drunk, and the cop shot him in the chest. Don't think they'll hesitate to do the same if someone's charging, regardless if it's a 8 foot katana or not.

I have a glave....picture a short sword on a long stick...and two spears....I am not a redneck...don't play dnd...or anything...I use the glave to garden...(for real) and the spears were a gift....I prefer my .22 rifle though...it's long range.

Dude, I live in Minneapolis and this happened near Lake St. (the scary part of the city). Those guys totally got what was coming to them. I really hope any attempts to charge the guy who was defending himself are dismissed. I also hope this gets more press, and makes thugs think twice about breaking into people's homes.

Yeah, defending yourself, one person against 4 is just sick. Here is an idea, don't want to die, don't break into others households with the intent of doing harmpretty simple to me.

Yeah, the grammar is embarrassing to read; I'd hate to be the REPORTER that wrote that one!

Severed fingers means they were trying to grab the blade with their hands. I guess they thought it wasn't sharp. This was common back when men fought sword duels.
