Hmmm, I live in Canada and the other day I drove past a bunch of OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) (Our state-level police) standing around the on ramp to a major city highway and randomly stopping cars (although they just let me pass). This article makes me wonder if the same sort of thing was happening here. We do have CCTV cameras popping up in the cities, etc., although I don't think it is as bad here I do see signs that the powers that be are trying to move Canada in the same direction.
