why start with USD and then proceed to use metric? Not that I don't use metric and don't think its a good system... its just that if you're speaking to Americans most can't visualize metric as well because of how little its used.
Qxzkjp,I'm actually curious as to how I misused it? If something changes weight by 1-2 percent, would it be incorrect to say it's weight changed by a few percentage points?
.......this article is nothing but an enviro-weenie whine-fest.The Three Gorges Dam is an engineering marvel..........and it's something the USA used to do on a routine basis.
@autokad - ok, you want some currently under way? -The International Space Station which is funded and run mostly by the USA-The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, a stealth fighter that is still under development & pre-production. -The Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (Google it) just received an additional $3 billion in funding to extend it through 2010.-The building of NYC water aqueduct #3. Costing $60 billion, construction started in 1970 and isn't expected to complete until 2020.-There are a large number of oil-related megaprojects underway in the USA. Click on the "Overview" links at the top of this page for more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_megaprojects- 9 of the 13 largest solar thermal power plants currently in development around the world are located in the USA.It really doesn't take a whole lot of effort to find out about these sorts of things. It took me all of about 5 minutes with Google to look all these examples up. I'll be more than happy to find more if necessary.
