Decades of two-faced hypocrisy from our "christian" churches is now bearing fruit. Ranting that nobody respects the Ten Commandments on one hand and condemning anyone who honors them of "living by the letter of the law" as if that was the most heinous sin you could commit. Go back to real Christianity or use common sense. Either one would be an improvement over the moral hypocrisy that is popular today. If you are going to believe in GOD, believe like Abraham, who rejected the idols his family made and searched for a morally pure, loving GOD that he could respect and not make excuses for. There is no moral excuse for torture.
The article is accusing the French to make Americans forget about their own torture stories, which are far worse btw.Want a good conscience? Start by taking the whole Bush administration to courts...
Shocking that the country that produced the Marquis de Sade could have an affinity for torture and authority.^ Thought before reading articlev Thought after reading articleBuried for lacking either a video of the original Milgram experiment, or the French reproduction. Also, the author of this article seems to be surprised at Fox News' willingness to employ hypocrisy to further the narrative they're trying to present over there. Curious.
I would love to see the Milgram experiment repeated in the various regions of the U.S. My prediction:The northeast and west coast would have the lowest rate, the southern to southwestern U.S. the highest. More interestingly they should do the test in Germany. That might yield interesting results.
Give that man another shock... would you kindly?"In the end, what separates a man from a slave? Money? Power? No - a man chooses, a slave obeys." -Bioshock
"Buried for lacking either a video of the original Milgram experiment, or the French reproduction. "Okay, this is a serious article on a respected journalistic Web site -- the old Pics Or It Didn't Happen standard doesn't apply here.
Most new research is statistics based which is highly suspect since they don't have high standards such as those found in drug studies. And even the drug studies aren't as tight as required to verify causality. We're seeing this throughout science. Physics without experiments... just lots and lots of perfect math that for all we know could have as much relation to reality a complicated video game. Biology using the damn Drake equation to estimate species diversity. Medicine telling us one day something is going to kill us and the next it's good for us. Astronomy mapping out various "dark" regions of the universe and instead of just admitting that they have no idea what it is they instead imply that it's some kind of new matter or energy which gets to be called DARK matter. The standards in science are going to hell. Everyone gets their name in the paper, their book in the store, and their faces on tv for a documentary but very little of it actually means anything.Psychology has of course been like that for generations. Repeatable experiments like this are at least SOMETHING that can be verified. So much of it is more conjecture then science.
