I think there is a lot of fake outrage. When I pass the BP station by my house, it always has the same # of cars filling up at the Shell across the street. (I live in rich yuppy douchebagville)I made a batch of boycott BP decals (and one of a design of the earth being squeezed like a lemon on a BP colored lemon squeezer) and were offering them for sale with the proceeds going to the IFAW for animal rescue efforts. After 3 craigslist ads in major cities, 2 ebay auctions, a couple of posts on active forums I'm on (which did generate a lot of discussion- or argument against boycotting BP anyway), and a FB post; I sold exactly 2 pairs. :( (one from FB and one in person to a local friend) Was planning on raising $300 to donate and it looks like I'm not even going to be able to recoup my cost of making them. Over breakfast my local paper even had a BP sympathy article. f**k that.
actually there are safety switches that are in place that didn't work. that is BP's responsibilities.@bastiphan: actually nukes have been used in the past to stop spills similar to this. I'm not saying use a nuke, but I'm sure we could use a non nuclear bomb that would cause the oil well to close up.
So wait, when I sell my soul to the devil, I have to be his slave too? :'( gas station owners. We could have been using hydroelectric cars a long time ago if it wasn't for big brother being controlled/run/owned/influenced by BP and the like.
My protest is symbolic not at all misguided. It will show BP that I am willing to hurt anything with their name on it. Good thing I am not alone on this. So save your crocodile tears, cause I aint shedding one. You're too much of a pussy to take a hard lined stance. Besides I plan not to give any money to any oil industry as soon as I get rid of my car. How do you like them apples? I'd rather invest in renewables.
