The article touches on great benefits regarding prosthesis and so forth. The only unfortunate outcome I can see from this is that people that need it the most won't get it due to companies monopolizing the technology and price gouging.

this could have important medical implications. It could lead to repair of spinal cord injuries & other neurological damage. But, it could also lead to some nasty behavior modification programs. Scary stuff
