the way they frame it makes it seem like there thinking these countries ridiculous, like a worst dressed list for the oscars. i thought that was rude. other than that, i really thought those were wookies until i read the caption.
i think your understanding of a military parade is misplaced. it's for propaganda purposes for the masses as well as a display to interested parties outside of whatever country that they have all sorts of goodness, too. like snipers, warheads, jets, etc., etc. or whatever else they wish to display. the general population doesn't really give a damn about munitions.
