infendo.com — The recent July issue of Nintendo Power is packed to the gills with promising Wii games and just might debunk the conventional wisdom suggesting that Wii is only good for party games. Granted, announcements and previews do not a great final game make, but I’m giddy at the prospects of numerous titles profiled in the magazine.

Metroid Prime 3! How could that be overlooked? And Super Smash Bros. Brawl? This list is ridiculous. If anything it is listing some of the lesser known upcoming games.

"The only question is why of all games they could rip titles from they chose THAT. "Maybe because it's a Geometry Wars game? http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/21/geometry-wars-galaxies-shooting-for-wii-ds/

I just bought Madden 07 last night at Target for $30. Fun stuff. The graphics leave something to be desired, but Nintendo has really redefined gaming.

Let me know when they decide to do NCAA football for the wii... I don't care about any mario-type crap....Unfortunately, EA sports has an issue with PC and Wii users, and refuses to offer their best game for these systems. Thanks,Mike

It's fanboy for minigames and PS2 ports.

I was surprised that this issue of Nintendo Power actually showed a few titles we HAVEN'T already heard a lot about on the Web.I was actually impressed by the look of the "Legends of the Indy 500" title -- not photorealistic or HD by any means, but it has a nice retro-realistic, naturalistic feel about it and might be the first racing game I take seriously for the Wii (it's not my favorite genre, but the historical aspect of this title appeals to me.)On the other hand, the first Conspiracy title for Wii, a 3-D mech shooter called "Counter Force," looks REALLY poor -- very much PS1/N64-era texturing and modeling from the look of it, albeit in higher resolution. I actually took it to be a DS title at first glance. I know Conspiracy is aiming at budget titles, but this is the first time I've seen any images of their debut release and it's not impressive at all. I'm hoping it's $19.99 with decent gameplay -- there's not an obvious competitor on the Wii yet, but Armored Core or even Iron Soldier this is not. Also good to see that a couple of EA Sports titles will be online this time around, good to see Nintendo getting some infrastructure up and running on that end. (Although my enthusiasm for online gaming is always tempered by the suspicion that I will NOT be able to enjoy nostalgic online gaming 20 years from now, the way I can enjoy offline gaming with every console to date!)(And did anyone see the review of "Escape from Bug Island"? Ouch!!! Doesn't sound like Necro-Nesia gained much ground in the localization process.)

I'm still waiting on the fully-fledged boxing game. Damnit, one needs to be made. I love Wii Boxing, but it's far too simple. A properly-made boxing game would be dynamite.

Next month: Hajime no Ippo! Woo-WOOOOO finally some responsive Wii boxing, I hope.

Bad news. Hajime no Ippo just came out here in Japan....and it's not nearly as good as I was hoping.

And still we wait for this stunning array of good Wii games that were promised. Is anyone else remembering that this is exactly what was promised for the Cube, and that didn't pan out either? I'm sorry, but pulling Mario out five or six more times doesn't count, Ninetendo! You're disappointing the heck out of me, a "casual gamer" who is supposed to be the prime target for the Wii. Casual doesn't mean we want lame games! And please, fanboys, don't even pull out the same three or four "good" titles you keep mentioning over and over again. The system has been out for a year now. No more excuses.
