pvrwire.com — To the best of my knowedge this will be the world's 1st P2P PVR. It's from NDS (the company that makes DirecTV DVRs) & is called ShareTV. It will allow users to share recorded video stored on their DVRs with other subscribers over a P2P network. Also you will be able to use any hard drive on a home network as the DVR's hard drive.

Can't be certain but I think Replay TV got screwed over in the courts and almost went bust. I think the company behind the P2P technolgy in ReplayTV did actually go bust. They dont make PVR boxes anymore, just overpriced PC PVR software.NDS is a much bigger company (majority owned by Rupert Murdochs NewsCorp) so this p2p PVR will last.

TV Networks are happy for you to use this, because it is DRM protected. If you subscribe to a channel, then you will be able to download the content from other users who recorded it over a P2P network. It will not let users who haven't subscribed get free content. Think of it as a new distribution network of content that you have already paid for but you can watch even if you didn't record it. It will not increase piracy. Remember, NDS has never officially been hacked yet, so broadcasters trust their encryption. This is not designed for people like us who us PC all the time. All NDS hardware can be used by my granny or my toddler.
