reason.com — In 2005, for example, Baltimore's Cheryl Lynn Noel, a mother and churchgoing woman, was shot to death when she mistook raiding police officers for intruders. She was holding a legal handgun when they kicked open her bedroom door. That raid was conducted after police investigators found marijuana seeds in the family trash.

no, people should be equally armed as the police force. Keeps the balance. You think the Supream court would rule for immenate domain if the public was still well armed??Free armed publics don't get those ruling

Mowinfaces you are an idiot. Seems like WACO happened for a similar reason. If they just waited until she left the building to shop or something, it would have been an easy take down, or maybe even realized it was the wrong person. Koresh could have been taken on any one of his visits or leaves from the 'compound'. Seems like there is no patience on law enforcement nowdays. If you were in her shoes you would do the same thing.sleze- most cops did and do get away scot free when they fu@k up like this. All it would take is 1 to go down, and the rest should fall in line to look a little harder before assaulting.

Im sick of hearing drug war crap. Save my tax money legalize the natural s**t and tax it like smokes/alcohol. This police state we live in is bull$hit. I dont want to be a victim to a mistaken identity.look at the headlines we have more important things to worry about.Too many people in Law enforcement. (I don't remember the number but it was high like 1 in 40)1 in 32 Americans is in 'the system'WHY? Drugs and alcohol? these laws obviously do not represent Americas trends.I dont do drugs, but so what if someone gets stoned @ home? There are laws on the books now that if he drives and kills someone, he goes to jail. Make people responsible for their actions. No more bull s**t of '(s)he was under the influence of (insert somethiing here) and didnt know better' We do know better. We choose to do what ever feels right a the moment. Im a responsible drinker. Not through fear but through education. I was taught by my parents/school what is right/wrong/ acceptable etc../rantzOok

@ MonchberterYou hit the nail on the head. It is people like "rdotson" that are looking to be a marter for their extreme leftist view of the world where everyone is out to get them. He will die and then everyone will comment on how the police shouldn't have shot him. Makes me sick to think that there would be people out there that are just looking for a fight and want to kill someone. But I guess that is the world we live in. One where you "DON'T" live in a police state where you CAN say and think what you want, and do almost anything that you want, and that is protected by the government who "they" still want gone. Would love to see what anarchy actually started if the government said F**K it and let everyone do whatever illegal thing they wanted to everyone else. Then we would be no better than the animals that we believe we are so far above in intelligence. I don't think you could ever please rdotson, he complains that the government takes too many of his liberties and if criminals weren't kept in check then he would be complaining that the government wasn't doing anything to protect him. Like a little kid that wants everything, but only his way. Time to grow up. If you don't like the rules go to another country where you could do with a dose of reality and see that you have it pretty good here. Try maybe China or North Korea for a start to see what it is really like to have your liberties taken away.

SWAT teams cost money even if the officers volunteer their time, they are still expensive.Every municipality feels they need a SWAT teem to be prepared against terrorism. If you want to keep a funded budget, you have to use the SWAT team. The more you use it the more money goes to it's budget.Pretty soon they will use SWAT teams to enforce speeding tickets or else their funding will be cut.Follow the money...
