theinquirer.net— The thing that makes Apple better is not the design, OS, or a mouse button less, it is not playing the same rules that govern PCs. It is more a willingness to do the right thing, not the cheap thing.

"Half the fun in getting a new computer is building it."That's a little naive, eh? There are a lot of users, including ex-self-builders like myself, that really don't give a fish's fanny about choosing which neon lights or which motherboard to throw in the box, but care more about getting good, lengthy use out of the machine.Fair do's, if you still like building them, that's cool.. but that doesn't mean to say every Tom Dick & Harry from here to Lands End does too.The fact that Macs come in a nice(ish..nowt special really) box is irrelevant, merely icing on the cake, but what a tasty cake it is.In example; Take a music producer (such as I or any of my beat-mangling geek mates). When we look to buy a computer, we want something that, out of the box, can lay a track down with ease. Cubase & Nuendo, whilst being brilliant applications, are stained by the unstable bloat of Windows behind it. On the other end of the scale, I find Windows far better for running servers, and would assume it has advantages in areas of programming etc. and definitely in the gaming arena.Anyway, enough ranting, all depends what you use your computer for, at the end of the day.no digg here :p
As a developer and a long time user of both Apple and Windows machines I find articles like this totally discusting! What a total load of crap... this is trollbait flambe. --digg
@ highpass "choosing which neon lights"Just had to point out I've built over 5 computers that had no neon lights, neon lights are not building a computer. Your point however is a reasonable one, It's about a computer that will last and do what it's supposed to, however, a computer someone builds themselves may be 50% the cost, and all the right parts to last them years. So your point has a lot of flaws in the proof department.
Apple isn't cheap? The company that charges $400 for an ipod and doesn't give you a power brick isn't cheap?:) there lots of companies offering cheaper stuff, go buy them than... I know a casio watch is much cheaper, more functions, but I wear a Tag ;) dun nid to tell me how great and cheap your Dell or casio or toyota is, ya ?
