blog.bull3t.me.uk — Apparently something big is happening. A mysterious program known as pifts.exe is attempting to contact a server in Africa and seems to be associated with Symantec's anti-virus system, Norton. There is virtually no information on the internet regarding pifts.exe and things are being deleted.

Nothing evil what it does, I disassembled the file fully. For details: <a class="user" href="http://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&amp;t=51876" rel="nofollow">http://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&amp;t=51 ...</a>

ok but symantec ws deleteing posts off there message board before the raid started on there foum, also digg has not let any of these stories reach the front page, last night and early this morning searches for pifts.exe brought back 0 results, if this were simple human error at symantec why would digg cover it up

Forums are now "closed due to maintenance." Is there ANY doubt this is a coverup now?

"PIFTS.exe determines what Symantec products, and their version level, are installed on the system, and send that information back to Symantec. The data is used to let users know when new product versions are available."<a class="user" href="http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/2009/03/crazy_patch_tue.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/ ...</a>This fits on what the file does. Though, it still sounds weird to me.
