Wait... you mean major publications edit photos of celebrities to make them more appealing to the masses of pop culture addicted idiots in our country?! That's CRAZY...
Frankly, I think they did a good job with most of those photo's. After all, these are not from news coverage where doctoring a photo will tell a different story. To me, I wouldn't care if a news agency did some touch-ups to photo's. Simple things like contrast, white balance, etc... can really make a picture much clearer. That is not an excuse for crappy camera work however.
