nytimes.com — So how is it? As it turns out, much of the hype and some of the criticisms are justified. The iPhone is revolutionary; it?s flawed. It?s substance; it?s style. It does things no phone has ever done before; it lacks features found even on the most basic phones.

The only thing the iPod has proven about consumers is that they buy what everyone else has. Do you really think the user interface was the selling point for all these 14 year old girls sporting white earbuds?

People do understand the charge cycle thing with these batteries I hope. Basically under normal usage and charging conditions, you would not need to even think about replacing the battery for 3 - 4 years....Hmmmm, just around the time you will probably be thinking about replacing your phone.

Meebo will not work since it's flash based and the Iphone does not support flash at the moment.

I am sure that Apple has at least given some thought to a 3G network provider. I bet Apple's deal with AT&T either requires AT&T to roll out 3G or gives Apple the right to find another carrier. Do you really think that Steve Jobs is going to let his "next great thing" be crippled like this for long?http://one.revver.com/watch/311861

No phone is stuck is what is comes with. You can download the latest firmware for almost any phone and install it yourself (or just take it to the store and they will do it). Many times the new firmwares have more features but the truth is most companies don't spend much time improving the software. I doubt apple will either. They will just release new versions of the phone.

But all Windows users choose Windows after careful consideration of other options? Welcome to the real world. Many people choose things based on what other people have. Ask your girlfriend if she finds men with wives/girlfriends more attractive than they would be without them. Humans are WIRED for this behavior
