gizmodo.com — Sometimes reading rumors about the second iPhone is exactly like reading a wishlist of features people want. Whether it's subconscious or not, the rumors do get us thinking about what we want from a 3G iPhone. In short, we want an iPhone done right. Here's what we want to make the 3G iPhone faster, better and stronger.

Random Ringtones: My contact list is too large to assign everyone songs. Since I have over 100 ringtones, not knowing what song you're going to hear makes receiving calls more fun.

"3G" refers simply to the network technology, generally with 1G being analog phones, 2G being digital (PCS, early CDMA revisions), and 3G being the later revisions of CDMA, and other data optimized networks (like UMTS). "Always using 3G" is a non-sequitur because you will not always need to have access to the high speed data network used by your provider to place phone calls. The phone has DS-SS demodulation capabilities (the underlying technology for CDMA networks) if it can use an EVDO network. This is important because there are fundamental hardware differences between the GSM TDMA services and the CDMA services - specifically a hardware (or DSP) correlation chip is needed to synchronize with the CDMA codes. If the Iphone has these capabilities I see no reason why in intrepid hacker could not modify the phones software and ESN to be compliant with a Verizon CDMA network. But go ahead and dig me down because you dont understand what I am talking about. You will see.

I would love, love, love one or two more physical buttons. Maybe smaller and right next to the home button. To be used for:1) Previous/Next track in the playing "iPod" app whether the phone is locked or not2) Physical camera "take picture" button3) Various shortcuts4) Games and other app extensibility
