wow the usb battery thing is very simple, im really going to have to give that a try (especially since ill just have to replace a dead 9v instead of my 40$ cell phone battery, woohoo!!!!)can you say ultraportable thinkpad powered by 22 D cell batteries, HAR HAR HAR HAR!!!!!!
"This setup worked for me, but I really can not tell you or guarantee you this will work for you also… you are risking your ipod with this!!!"I wouldn't mess around with that personally. Especially on an investment like the ipod.

Im suprised cell phones and iPods dont contain the same technology as kinetic watches, charging itself up as you move around, sure its not gonna replace the battery, but im sure it would make it last longer before a full charge.
For some reason I imagined the 'hand cranked flashlight' was one of those that have a clear tube as a case, and you can see the electronics inside, and to charge it, you have to shake it up and down, causing a metal weight with magnets inside to move up and down near coils of wire to induce a current, charging the small battery. Works good, but looks like you are playing with yourself. Doing that for 30 minutes to charge an iPod would be tough to do.... wait... no it wouldn't. I forgot most people with iPod's do that several times a day anyway, they are probably pretty adept at it. Hell, get a half dozen geeks in a room with generators shaped like that flashlight, and they could light a small city.

Even though I don't own nor like Ipods, this sounds like a very cool article. If the link worked, I would probably digg it.
