pbs.org — Back in the 1990s Bill Gates said the company that would eventually beat Microsoft probably had yet to be founded - some people believe that company is Google. But what about Google itself, who will kill Google? An interesting analysis of who is most likely to form "the next big thing".

This guy Cringley (is it pronounced "cringe-lee" or "kring-lee"?) is a bag of hot air. He's the NPR equivalent of John C. Dvorak.

it can and will happen some one some place will create a site that is like google but has a better vibe to it. that is all it will take. I my be an old server surfer but i remember back when excite was the sh!t yahoo was just starting but excite had groups forums, java chat that took 3 min. to load on my 56k it was the best and coolest around every one used it and heck they gave out free email at a time when it cost money and hotmail was not around. but look at it now, i can honestly say i have not been to the site in over 3 years i have not logged into my excite email in about 7 so i assume it is gone. in 1999 if you would have said that nothing could take down excite i would have believed you, but give it time and every thing will fall and die.

"""Then OSX and Linux are still borns, too. My logic is that Vista has already sold more copies of both operating systems, put together."""I didn't agree with his comment either, but if you read that back to yourself, it doesn't make any sense for 3 reasons. :-)

I don't mind reading articles written by liars if the article is more for my amusement. I would even guess that lying takes a little bit of creativity so it might even be a good thing in writing fiction.
