pcmag.com — After reading this article, it seems like Windows Vista was the "be all" operating system, but deadlines stripped out more than 2/3 of the features planned for the OS. Apple can easily trump Microsoft in 2006 with a quality OS release to the x86 platform. Time will tell.

MS will continue to dominate due to good marketing to the NON-TECH majority.Apple could make a good dent in MS, but that will ONLY happen if they release OSX as a standalone product that runs on all x86 machines which does not seem likely.

Why can't Microsoft wait, develop, and get all the features that were supposed to be "revolutionary"? Just add the critical updates to XP for SP3.Please, forget the mac vs. pc crud. -- use what you want to use.

Most people don't realize that apple only owns 2% of the market Microsoft don't know exactly but im sure its around 80 to 90% of the market its going to be damn hard to compete. Plus not many companys make software for mac.It depends on what you want a PC for microsoft for games MAC i dont know im not a mac person so whatever its used for

I think it's funny to read people's comments who haven't read the article linked to this digg. They are so obvious and it's always fun to laugh at people who make themselves look like idiots all by them selves. LOL! :)

lol, its not like anyone is sitting at home saying, "OMG NEW WINDOWS OS!!" do you notice that? its never like the way it is with Apple. Windows doesn't really excite people anyways. so i'm not dissapointed.

Well guys, I look at it this way:Windows right now is good for the average home user who just wants to use their digital camera and common day to day things. These flame wars about Apple VS MS/PC has always gone on, and I think now that Apple has cut over to Intel ships that they have lost the battle. In my humble opinion that was one of the major things that they had going for them, RISC processors have always been awesome, they even use risk in some older big iron systems like the AS/400. That aside I can only just sit back and shake my head when I am introduced to any "new" MS OS. I feel like it is all basically a ploy to get people "motivated" to upgrade their hardware, of course they always make it run on existing hardware because they know if they didn't they wouldn't be able to profit on their OS right away, and yes I think people would throw out a new PC just so they could run Aero on a Newer one. And the kicker:they have people that swear allegiance to their OS, its like a game console now, people are all about "mine is better than yours" which remarkable seems similar to "mine is bigger than yours", and this is done in the name of "new features". I don't hate windows, but I do hate how it holds us back, speaking from a SysAd POV. I noticed that this new version of windows finally supports IPV6... after how many years?? Core routers/Hubs have supported IPV6 for at least 6 years now, and if it had not been for Windows lack of compatibility we would all be enjoying IPV6. I am only speaking from my POV, I am sure that some one on this list will attack me saying this or that, you are entitled to your opinion and I will not attack you for that as that just seems defeatist. I do enjoy the eye candy in the latest OS, sure its neat, but Gnome has made some pretty cool advancements to the similar and it doesn't seem to chew resources like Vista, now I am sure they will fix this in the final release, they take the top 20 complaints and always fix them, but for the people who have never given another OS a chance there ARE alternatives, I use *BSD. I can do what I want with FreeBSD since I really dint play games(I bought a console for that, a 360 in fact which I like allot) on the PC. Many apologies if this seems like a run on, it really is just a stream of thoughts. So there you have it that's my $1.34.
