slate.com — The case against HFCS comprises the three cardinal claims of food politics: unhealthy, unnatural, and unappetizing. While none of these claims is completely wrong when it comes to corn sweetener, none is quite right, either.

HFCS is dying because people are standing and voting with their pocket books. Unnatural stuff must be removed from the American diet because the body sees it as poison. in addition, nature makes it hard for man to get sugar out of nature. We have used technology to defy the laws of nature to serve our sugar gluttony. We are reaping the "benefits"of what we sow Obesity, diabetics, hart disease and cancer for the purpose of making a "profit". We must reduce the use of all sugar, especially refined sugars in our diets.

I just returned from a trip to the UK, and I am pregnant - so I was sipping on ginger ale before during and after the trip. There is absolutely no question that the ginger ale I had, same brand in the UK and US, was completely different. The UK version was so mild it reminded me slightly of the taste of a diet soda. When you are used to drinking the super sweet HFCS sodas of course you think that normal sugar soda tastes like diet. Just like when you eliminate all sweeteners from your life a carrot tastes incredibly sweet.
